Amazon Alexa & IFTTT functionality is now active in all iRobot’s Wi-Fi enabled Roomba vacuum robots in India. Users with Amazon Echo devices (Echo Dot, Echo & Echo Plus) can now clean their home with a simple voice command. Today, that functionality expands to all Wi-Fi connected Roomba vacuum robots, a list that includes a pair new additions, the Roomba 695, Roomba 895, Roomba 960, Roomba 966 and Roomba 980.
The latest updates for the iRobot HOME App make cleaning with an iRobot Roomba vacuuming robot even more user-friendly, with voice-activated commands, enhanced mapping features, and useful post-cleaning reports. These are exciting next steps towards the vision of an ecosystem of home robots that work collaboratively and further enable the smart home.
With Amazon Alexa™, customers can start, stop and pause Roomba cleaning jobs with simple voice activated commands (e.g. "Alexa, ask Roomba to begin cleaning."). The Alexa™ skill for Roomba vacuuming robots is now available to Indian customers and is compatible with any connected Roomba vacuum.
Available for Android and iOS devices, the iRobot HOME App gives users more control over their connected cleaning products, such as the Roomba 900 Series Vacuum Cleaners and Braava jet® Mopping Robot, with customized cleaning preferences, information about cleaning jobs, customized maintenance tips and direct access to customer support.
IFTTT Skill with Roomba Robots in India
iRobot's Roomba robot vacuums just got a lot smarter, thanks to a new channel on the free online automation service IFTTT. All Wi-Fi connected Roomba robot vacuums is now compatible with very popular online automation service IFTTT (If This, Then That) in India. Compatibility with IFTTT means that Wi-Fi-equipped Roombas like Roomba 695, Roomba 895, Roomba 960, Roomba 966 and Roomba 980 can now sync up with dozens of different platforms, services and products using IFTTT's "if this, then that" approach to automation.
You can program your Roomba to trigger anything that works with IFTTT whenever your robot vacuum finishes a cleaning cycle, and you can also use anything that works with IFTTT to trigger your robot vacuum to start, stop or pause cleaning.
You'll also find a collection of preconfigured applets in iRobot's IFTTT channel (https://ifttt.com/irobot) which you can enable with just a few taps. Some of the more inherently useful options include one that pauses your Roomba's cleaning cycle whenever you answer your Android phone and another that pauses it whenever your smart doorbell rings. IFTTT can also use your phone's GPS data to trigger an automatic cleaning cycle whenever you leave home.
